ARAWAK PORT DEVELOPMENT LTD. PARTNERS WITH NEMA TO RECEIVE HURRICANE RELIEF SUPPLIES

NEMA Partners with Arawak Port Development Ltd. to receive Hurricane Relief Supplies

NASSAU, The Bahamas – The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has partnered with Arawak Port Development Ltd. (APD) to assist individuals seeking to donate relief supplies to the areas impacted by Hurricane Joaquin.

Individuals wishing to donate relief items are asked to bring them to the Nassau Container Port at Arawak Cay from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am to 4pm for storage pending shipment.

The parameters for accepting supplies are:

  • Non-perishable food items and construction materials, which would be consolidated into a 40-ft container and shipped to the affected areas – free of charge.
  • Items should be packaged and properly labelled to identify the contents therein.
  • Clothing, insect repellent and small appliances would also be accepted for shipping.
  • The supplies would be distributed where needed and are not to be personalized.

Members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force are also involved in the initiative by providing security during the accepting and storage phases of the initiative.

Meanwhile, monetary donations can be deposited to the National Disaster Relief Fund at the Royal Bank of Canada, Account #1281013 Ref: Hurricane Joaquin.
